It’s hard to believe that the fine folk at NOLA have been up and running for 12 months already! Time flies when you’re busy being one of Adelaide’s best craft beer venues…
In what one can only assume will be an awesome weekend of brilliant food, music and most importantly BEER, the ‘NOLA Birthday Beer Fest’ kicks off next Saturday 26th November and will run over the whole weekend. The birthday bash is going to be featuring live music, DJ’s, and NOLA’s own amazing smoked meats, but the main attraction has got to be the 26 different kegs of delicious beer they’ll be pouring over the weekend!
We’ve had fantastic support from them over the past 12 months, so when we were contacted to brew up something special for the occasion, we jumped at the opportunity!
We had recently come into possession of a state of the art 50 litre Pilot Brew system, so what better way to test it out and brew some ultra-small batch beer! After a lengthy brain-storming session (about 5 minutes) on what style to brew, we came up with a Single Hopped India Red Ale. A style we all love here in the brewery, but are yet to brew. So the next day we jumped straight in and brewed up a storm! With a large proportion of Crystal and Munich Malt in the grain bill, this beer has a beautiful caramel and biscuity maltiness, which combined with the spicy, resiny and herbaceous characters of the Eureka hop, has made beautifully balanced ale for its 6.5% ABV.
As mentioned earlier, there is only 1 keg of this bad boy in existence, so make sure you poke your head into NOLA over their birthday weekend to have a try!
